Born adventurer, Hot air balloon pilot, diver and sailing autodidact. In a self-built wooden sailing yacht of 22ft he made many solo sailing trips over the Bay of Biscay to Northern Spain. The desire to sail further resulted in the Builder of a 36ft steel yacht. Where with great regularity, He did long single-handed sailing voyages. In 1997/98 he sailed, solo across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. 2000 he started building his own design, the 60ft aluminium expedition sailing vessel POOH. With this he made several sailing expeditions expeditions to West Africa including the Gambia river over 125 miles upriver, The Marowijne, Suriname and Commewijne river.
